What it is
Taniir Nakarnah is a constant roleplaying setting (much like the whole of Dangerous Shadow's was) in which you create a character (or adopt one) who was born in that world and will die in that world (if that is the case). You choose to be either one side or the other, or neutral though I will not allow everyone to be neutral and those that are must not be from either Taniir nor Nakarnah, and roleplay a situation in this world.
The Situation
Taniir Nakarnah (in the human lands) is the formally united kingdom of two countries, Taniir in the south and Nakarnah in the north. These two countries are at now at war over two things. The first reason is a succession dispute between twin brothers. The second is more between the common people. The people of Taniir (generally) believe the dead should be left to rest and that it is blasphemous to tamper with the bodies. The people of Nakarnah (again generally) believe that, once a person's spirit has moved on, there should be no need to revere the bodies as they are now merely empty shells. They believe they should be used and they practice the necromatic arts. Thus the rift between both the upper class and the common people and all those in between, both a conflict of loyalties and a conflict of beliefs. Who's side will you be on?
History of Taniir Nakarnah
For centuries these two people have found reason to hate each other, sometimes going through a few decades of peace and prosperity only to be torn apart by war because of some petty feud. The boarderlands are known as the wastelands as there is no clear boarder between the two countries due to the constant wars.
However, in the year 343AK (Age of Kings) a new king, King Ahknar came to the throne at the age of thirteen after his incompetent father. Even at such a young age this boy-king had a strong grasp on both military and politics and it was foreseen that he would by far out-weigh his father. At the time of his father's death he was in the wastelands learning and participating in the arts of war and was crowned there. He continued his efforts and, after bringing down the king of Nakarnah in a skirmish by his own blade at the age of fifteen he then entered negotiations with the people and brought about a peace treaty in which Nakarnah was a country in its own rights, ruled by a council of locals selected by young King Ahknar and they were to defer to him in all substantial matters.
He ruled the land of Nakarnah with the same fairness and equality as he ruled his own and the people respected and liked him. He brought trade and prosperity to the two lands and his reign was celebrated with wealth. The land of Taniir Nakarnah became a power force in the greater world. He married a young queen when he was seventeen and, two months later, she fell pregnant.
Tragedy befell the royal couple then as, when the birth date grew closer, complications arose and Ahknar was forced to bring in a foreigner who proposed a new method that should at least save the babies. After consulting with his wife, she agreed and they went through with this procedure (a cesarean section). Both baby boys were saved however, from the strain of the complications and following operation, the queen died soon after.
These two princes, Remnar and Keirenar, were at one stage, inseparable. They were always fighting, always involved in a scuffle with each other about something or other but they always made up afterwards and were once more the best of friends. As for looks, they were similar, but not the same. For one, Remnar has the golden blond hair of his father while Keirenar has the raven hair of his mother. Both their eyes were the sapphire blue of their father - king's eyes they were called as every successive king in Taniir has had the same colour eyes.
When the princes were fifteen however something happened and a rift opened between them. No one but themselves know exactly what caused this fight, some say it was a woman, others that it was differing beliefs about some matter or another, but either way they were never as close as they were before and their fights started turning nasty.
King Ahknar remained healthy throughout his whole life and never remarried after his first wife; afterall he had two heirs and did not need to marry for political reasons and he felt he could not love another as he did his first queen. Though he had yet to name which of the two sons would succeed him, the people were not overly worried about such a matter at that time; the king was, while aging, still young - only in his mid-thirties - it was a time of peace so they had nothing to worry about in the face of war and the man was as healthy as ever.
However while out riding alone (something he did every morning to clear his mind before working) something happened. Again no one knows what but, after not returning for several hours, searches spread out for the missing king. His body was found by a stream with five arrows in it, four in the chest and one in the leg, and his sword drawn with blood on it. There were no other bodies around and the arrows were home made so they did not come from any particular army.
With the king so suddenly assassinated without naming which of his twin sons would become heir, chaos was unleashed and the countries of Taniir and Nakarnah. At first it was confined to the meeting halls of the elite but then, in a fit of anger and believing that he should be the heir, Remnar drove Keirenar out of Taniir and thus open war broke out, Remnar leading those loyal to him on the side of Teniir and Keirenar, leading those loyal to him on the side of Nakarnah. People changed sides and betrayed their own and the wastelands, just starting to regrow again, became once more the traditional battle field.
The nobles weren't the only ones caught up in this however. The feud about what was right and proper to do with the dead also rose up among the common people, always a touchy subject and one that had been pointedly ignored during Ahknar's reign.
The year is 364AK and the wars have began afresh.
Playable Characters
As this is a human world the vast majority of players and people will be of the human race in some form or another. As we are, afterall, human I'm sure there is no need for an explanation of them.
Elves and dwarves do exist but you are not free to make your own character in this race. Instead if you want to play one of these characters you must adopt one from the Taniir Nakarnah adoption center.
As for the princes themselves, if your character has some kind of interaction with them you must pm a member of staff and ask them to play them. This will keep people from being overly controlling with them. You may, of course, tell that staff member what you want them to do and it is up to them to decide whether it is in the prince's nature to do that or not. Their profiles will be in the Accepted Profiles board.
There is also a limit of three necromancers available to be played and all three will be available in the adoption center. However, unlike the other race characters, they will be mostly unfinished, left for you to create. There is one who will be nearly finished who I hope will play an important role in Taniir Nakarnah's future.
As with the east and west foreigners, there will be two characters from each land available for adoption and, apart from the circumstances that come with their race, they are free to fill in and develop for yourself.
Other than those exceptions you may play whatever you want, noble, soldier, dwell, merchant, whatever you choose of any age or gender.
