*Past:
Dominic was the second son born to Sonja and John, and was long awaited. Bartholomew had been a fluke, the doctors had been surprised when Sonja became pregnant, because she was not supposed to be able to bear any children. She had a very difficult labor; having numerous spouts of preterm labor. Finally, they wouldn't stop her anymore for fearing of hurting the baby, so, three months premature, Batholomew was born, but the doctors only gave him thirty days to live, if he lasted the night. Well the babe did, and the doctors told John and Sonja not to get pregnant again, for fear that this time they would not be so lucky. And he was right. Both Sonja and John wanted more kids, at least three, and a year after Bartholomew was born, they tried again, hoping for another fluke. And even though they got pregnant several times, Sonja's body would reject the fetus and she would miscarry. Finally, fearing his wife was on the edge of suicide or insanity, John went to an agency that offered surragacy. He donated his sperm, and she her eggs. The whole thing went as planed, except when they were told they had twins! Now, they had been hoping for just one, but two...Sonja cried for three days straight, but this time out of joy. When the boys were born, John and Sonja named them Dominic and Evan. Unfortunatly, after a DNA test, there seemed to be a problem. Dominic was their son, through and through. But, Johns sperm had impregnated the surragets egg. John was furious that they would allow something like this to happen, and when the mother was informed, she wanted to keep Evan, but promised to keep his name. That agreement was kept, but Dominic knows nothing about his half brother, his father and mother too ashamed to mention it. Then, after that horrible experience, John got a vasectomy. But, another fluke happened when Bartholomew was 6 and Dominic only 2. They got pregnant. At first, Sonja was terrified. She went straight to her friend and doctor, and told him what was going on. He was worried, fearing it would turn out very badly, but allowed her to continue with the pregnancy after her numerous beggings and pleadings. And this pregnancy was totaly different. She had nothing. No morning sickness, no back pain, no swelling of the ankles, and better still, no preterm labor. John and Sonja decided not to find out the gender, to leave it as a surprise, and when the time came, Sonja was actually 3 days overdue! She was extrodinarily happy as she held their newborn baby girl in her arms, and she cried again, for a long time, every time she would look at her gorgeous little princess.
Dominic grew up living in the lap of luxery: He had any toy he pointed a finger at, ate anything he wanted for dessert, and always went to the best playgrounds. When he was 6, like his older brother before him, his parents took him to a puppy mill out in the country and allowed him to pick which ever puppy he wanted; out of a possible 1500 puppies, ranging from chihuahuas to great danes and mastiffs. His brother had picked a german shepard (Hank) because of the strength and protectivness, but Dominic had always wanted a vizsla (Cerise), and picked one out almost immedietly. His sister, when she was 6, picked out a tibetian spaniel(Autumn).
He had always been pushed to follow in his parents footsteps like Bartholomew, but slightly less so, since he was the second son. He had watched his brother bring home lots of girls, and thought that that was what was expected of him as well. So he tried, and he was very good and getting girls interested, because he was a very handsome boy afterall, but he just didn't have any feeling for girls. Yes, he liked them alright, but there was just no attraction. And then, at his previous middle school, there was a new student a quarter of the way through the year. His name was Maxwell, Max for short. He had short, bright red ((not orange, like dyed RED)) hair, and the most stunning green eyes Dominic had ever seen. They became fast friends, both having a strong passion for reading and writing, and not long after, they fell in love. Although that was not what Dominic thought it was. He knew he felt something for this boy, but also knew that it was against the rules to like boys, so he couldn't possibly be attracted to him. But one day, after school as they were walking to Dominics house, which was three miles out of the city, Max had suddenly pushed him into a dark alley and thrust him against the walls, and pushed his body and lips against his. Dominic was terrified, he had kissed girls before, but that was expected, now here he was kissing a boy! Dominic shoved Max away from him, eyes filled with tears, and ran home. He made the dire mistake of telling his parents what had happened, and the next day they told him he would be attending a different school. Dominic was crushed and heartbroken, but he got a firm tongue lashing from his father about how wrong that boy was, and how he was insane because only nut-jobs are interested in their own sex. So from then on, Dominic was secretative and pushed away any thoughts of Max or other boys.
